"Picpoul de Pinet"
One of the named crus of Coteaux du Languedoc producing white wine exclusively from Picpoul Blanc grapes. This curious speciality in the deep south of France, one of the country’s few varietally named AC wines, has in the post-modern age of vinification attracted some new interest. Millions of tourists each summer see the well-signposted co-operative (see co-operatives) at Pinet, the mostimportant producer of this distinctive wine and clearly visible from the main autoroute along the Mediterranean coast. The co-operative at Pomerols and some individual domaines such as Félines Jourdan have usually managed to coax a more interesting green-gold, lemon-flavoured wine out of the grape than this particular production centre, however."
