DECANTER Magazine July 2010

This summer’s 50 best-value French buys (& not from the places you’d expect…)
We all love Bordeaux, Burgundy and Rhône, but in value terms, France has much more to offer. Sarah Jane Evans MW and Rosemary George MW track down the best summer options at £5 to £15, from off the beaten track.
Domaine Félines Jourdan, Picpoul de Pinet 2008 18/20
All of a sudden Picpoul has become fashionable. Escaping from a vinous backwater, Picpoul is transformed as Picpoul de Pinet, one of Languedoc’s crus. Climate change may have something to do with it, but this citrusy, mineral wine has bright acidity, making it perfect for summer days. The domaine is, for me, the top Picpoul de Pinet producer. £7,50.
